Whale Project: KUYO PIPELINE and Ivorian Merit

Publié le 30 Nov, 2023

Between the discovery of the ”  Baleine  “ field by the ENI group and its start-up by the ENI-PETROCI HOLDING consortium, KUYO PIPELINE played a key role  in the successful construction of an 11-kilometer gas pipeline. This pipeline links a Beach Valve Station to PETROCI’s processing station, known as the Lion GPL station. More than 1,903 tonnes of 12″ API 5 PSL 2 piping, 17.5 mm thick and with a 3LPE coating, were buried in urban areas. KUYO PIPELINE’s expertise in this nationwide project rivals that of internationally renowned companies. This feat easily justifies the company’s forty-two (42) years of experience in the hydrocarbons sector in Côte d’Ivoire.

KUYO PIPELINE has honored its schedule commitments to the ENI-PETROCI HOLDING consortium on an exceptional completion date of twenty-four (24) months to bring the ”  Baleine  “ deposit on stream .

At the celebration of the start of production of the  Baleine  field held this Thursday November 23 in the commune of Port-Bouet, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, Prime Minister Beugré MAMBE expressed his pride in the local companies and national experts who have promoted Ivorian know-how throughout the oil industry value chain.
The Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, Sangafowa COULIBALY, rightly congratulated the Managing Director of KUYO PIPELINE
 in the following terms : ” I would like to salute Madame Vanessa KUYO […] Madame, you are the worthy heiress of your late father “.

This beautiful celebration took place with the notable presence of the Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Abdourahmane CISSE, the Great Mediator of the Republic, Adama TOUNGARA, and the Minister of State, Minister of Defense, Téné BIRAHIMA.

Created in 1981 by its founder, the late Jean Kessié KUYO, KUYO PIPELINE is a privately-owned Ivorian company that continues to excel in the design, manufacture, construction and maintenance of industrial plants. The discovery of the ” Baleine  ” deposit in August 2021 and the Local Content law passed by the Ivorian Senate on Monday May 30, 2022 have created a framework conducive to the emergence of this national champion with a number of successes in the construction of oil, mining, energy and agri-food facilities.

”  Baleine  is the largest deposit in the Ivorian sedimentary basin. This world-class oilfield will enable Côte d’Ivoire to project itself as an oil-producing country.  Its discovery remains a historic event that offers reassuring prospects for the Ivorian oil industry. As confirmed by the Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, 2.5 billion barrels of oil and 3.300 billion cubic feet of natural gas are expected to significantly increase Côte d’Ivoire’s energy production.

The remarkable contribution made by Ivorian expertise to the successful development of this deposit, so important to the Ivorian economy, was recognized by the State of Côte d’Ivoire, which also awarded several distinctions. Mrs KUYO Vanessa, Managing Director of KUYO PIPELINE, has been made a knight in the Ivorian Order of Merit. In just a few sentences, the happy and deserving recipient expressed herself : ” I would like to express my infinite gratitude to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, for giving us the opportunity to participate in the implementation of a project so vital to our country’s development. It’s an inestimable honor and a source of pride. This trust testifies to the noble vision of our leaders to give opportunities for expression to local businesses. There is a good political will that augurs well for the future of Ivorian entrepreneurs. I’m very happy to be recognized by the Ivorian government, which has elevated me to the rank of Chevalier in the Ivorian Order of Merit. I would like to dedicate this award to :

  • My late father, my role model in whose footsteps I walk, Mr. KUYO, Founder of KUYO PIPELINE ;
  • My staff is made up of administrative, technical and operational teams that I’m really proud of ;
  • My family and all those people who share my dream of contributing at the highest level to the industrial development of Côte d’Ivoire.
